GAIL SCHATZ
PROGRAM ASSOCIATE |
CELD Program Associate Gail Schatz brings a unique perspective to the CELD staff, having served as an assistant principal/learning coordinator at North Middle School in Aurora before her retirement. This experience, as well as her years teaching social studies at the high school level, gives Gail a broad view of the issues that arise when teachers implement innovative curricula or teaching strategies. A skilled facilitator, Gail has worked with civic educators not only in the United States but also Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. In addition to her work at CELD, she coordinates senior volunteers for the Aurora Public Schools. |

Gail is a rarity—a third generation native Coloradan. She graduated from Denver East High School, where she honed her editing skills as the yearbook chief, and the University of Colorado.
She can regularly be found visiting her children and grandchildren in Louisville, Kentucky, and Richmond, Virginia; she is somewhat perplexed to realize her four grandchildren are all Southerners. A dedicated skier, Gail was recently excited to learn how to body surf.
