activities for the Colorado We the People Program. CELD introduces
the program to teachers and provides continuing support to
the network of veteran WTP teachers in our state.
CELD
introduces the We the People program to teachers in a variety
of formats:
•
Awareness sessions for in-services, conferences;
• One to three day workshops for districts or a consortium
of school districts;
• Summer WTP institutes, University of Denver,
June 15-18, 2009. Graduate and recertification credit
available. The Executive Branch is the focus of the 2008 WTP
summer institute.
CELD
offers continuing support through a study group series for the
network of WTP teachers in Colorado:
•
Summer WTP program participants, University of Denver, June
15-18,2009. WTP veterans receive content updates, new strategies
and an opportunity to mentor new WTP teachers;
• Fall high school study groups for competing and showcase
teachers; Spring study groups and continuing support for the
culminating simulated Congressional hearing for new and veteran
middle school WTP teachers.
The
Center for Civic Education in California also offers professional
development activities for WTP teachers.
